What to Do After the Round 1 Result
Once the result is out on October 24, you usually have three paths, depending on that year's rules:
- Join the seat by reporting to the college between October 26 and November 2.
- Join and try for an upgrade in the next round, if the rules allow it.
- Joining the seat, which can mean losing your security deposit or facing limits in later rounds.
Read the exit and upgrade rules before you decide. Most regrets come from rushed choices at this step.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Missing the registration or choice-locking deadline by a few hours
- Uploading blurry or mismatched documents
- Forgetting about state counselling dates while waiting for MCC
- Ignoring bond or service conditions attached to a seat
- Trusting unofficial groups for dates and rules
